Of all the places you’ve been which is the one place you would consider as a permanent residence, if any, and why?

Several questions were asked about the place we’d want to live, retire to or would return to again and again. The answer for all the above is currently the same – Thailand.

It holds a special place in both of our hearts for various reasons and would currently rank number one as our home away from home. We love the food, the highly Buddhist influenced (laid back) way of life and the cost of living is really affordable. The only drawback is that we would be far from our family so as far as it being a permanent residence that is unlikely but living there for an extended period of time might be in our future.

Note should be made that there are many places we’ve yet to visit and perhaps our permanent residence has yet to be discovered.

Also, Sammy and Penny asked us if it crosses our mind to do this travel thing permanently (knowing that would mean being away from our family) and yes, it crosses our mind. We aren’t ready to put down roots just yet. But, we’d likely slow it down significantly and live a minimum of six months to a year in each place before moving on if not longer. We’ll just have to see!

Several people asked about the worst place and although there isn’t anywhere that I’ve disliked enough that I would tell people not to visit I would say that one place I’d never want to live is Probolingo, Indonesia.

Thank you, Brandi, Kathy, Kim and Rocky for your various questions. – Ashlie
